Occupational therapy is a holistic health care profession that helps people across the lifespan in a variety of settings lead meaningful lives, by enabling them to do what they want and need to do. We like to think of activities of daily living (or ADLs) as belonging to three categories which include: self-care, productivity, and leisure. Our approach is holistic, and we address role performance and periods of transition. We view the person as a whole, considering the mind, body and spirit.
There isn't anything quite like the role transition to Motherhood. New mamas and mamas-to-be are a special population and deserve to have their needs and goals addressed while taking into consideration this major role transition and the new caregiving activities that will become a primary focus of her daily life. The truth is, even when everything is going well, mamas and mamas-to-be need as much support as possible to feel empowered, and to be able to best care for themselves and their families.
Beginning with a holisitc assessment, we create an individualized plan to address your physical, emotional and psychosocial health and well being, to help you feel your best as you navigate your motherhood journey. We will identify your areas of strength and support, and areas of need. A core value of occupational therapy practice is client-centred care which means we will collaborate together in a partnership. We know that you as the expert of yourself and your baby.
